Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 16, Verse 20

आसुरीं योनिमापन्ना मूढा जन्मनि जन्मनि । मामप्राप्यैव कौन्तेय ततो यान्त्यधमां गतिम्

āsurīṃ yonimāpannā mūḍhā janmani janmani | māmaprāpyaiva kaunteya tato yāntyadhamāṃ gatim

Translation

Entering into demoniac wombs, the deluded ones, in birth after birth, without ever reaching Me, O son of Kuntī, pass into a condition still lower than that.

Śaṅkarācārya's commentary

These deluded creatures are born, birth after birth, only in tāmasic wombs and pass into lower and lower states. Without ever reaching Me, the Īśvara, they fall into a condition which is still lower. "Without reaching Me": certainly there is no room whatever even for the supposition that they will ever reach Me. The meaning, therefore, is, 'without ever attaining to the right path taught by Me.'
