रागी कर्मफलप्रेप्सुर्लुब्धो हिंसात्मकोऽशुचिः । हर्षशोकान्वितः कर्ता राजसः परिकीर्तितः

rāgī karmaphalaprepsurlubdho hiṃsātmako'śuciḥ | harṣaśokānvitaḥ kartā rājasaḥ parikīrtitaḥ

Translation

Passionate, desiring to attain the fruit of action, greedy, cruel, impure, subject to joy and sorrow, such an agent is said to be Rājasic.

Greedy: longing for another's property, not giving away his own. Cruel: doing harm to others. Impure: subject to both external and internal impurities. Subject to joy and sorrow: rejoicing on the attainment of desirable objects and suffering pain on the attainment of undesirable objects or even on connection with what is desirable when there is a chance of its loss or future absence.
