Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 9, Verse 8

प्रकृतिं स्वामवष्टभ्य विसृजामि पुनः पुनः । भूतग्राममिमं कृत्स्नमवशं प्रकृतेर्वशात्

prakṛtiṃ svāmavaṣṭabhya visṛjāmi punaḥ punaḥ | bhūtagrāmamimaṃ kṛtsnamavaśaṃ prakṛtervaśāt

Translation

Resorting to My Prakṛti, I again and again send forth this whole multitude of beings, powerless under the control of the Prakṛti.

Śaṅkarācārya's commentary

With the help of the Prakṛti, i.e., of Avidyā, which is subject to Me, I cause all these beings we now see to emanate again and again from the Prakṛti; all of them being rendered powerless by avidyā and other sources of evil under the influence of the Prakṛti, i.e., of Svabhāva or Nature.
